Canadian-born conductor Shelley Hanson is widely respected for her work as a music director, conductor, and keyboardist throughout Canada and the United States.
She has conducted and performed in productions with The Musical Stage Company, Charlottetown Festival, and Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera. Shelley has also appeared as guest conductor with the National Ballet of Canada and Chantal Kreviazuk In Concert at Massey Hall.
She was music director for the Stratford Festival’s acclaimed production of Bakkhai, as well as Crazy For You and Fiddler On The Roof. In the United States, Shelley has served as music director for national tours of The Lion King, Rent, and Show Boat, and the inaugural production of Ragtime at Chicago’s Oriental Theatre.
She obtained her bachelor and master’s degrees in piano performance and literature from The University of Western Ontario.
Shelley is also very honoured to be a part of the music team leading the choristers of Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto for the upcoming 2018 Christmas Eve Service at Roy Thomson Hall.
